Chernobyl 1986 opens the album, I wanted a good way to start the album and I thought why not create a news bulletin, describing the event, I created both the female and male voice parts, using text to speech and then recorded a piece of music, over which the news item is read out. That was followed by the construction of a Kraftwerk “Radio-Activity” styled Voice part, over a nuclear plant ambient sound clip. I wanted to create a similar intro describing aspects of the Chernobyl accident, using a robotic voice layered with a vocoder effect, it is very effective, again the voices were created using text to speech software and to round this particular track off I recorded a small choir section.
