about

Ballad For Pripyat started out with just the title, I always wanted to close the album with this song, it is a moving track with a wonderful string lead part (part influenced by Kraftwerk’s “Franz Schubert” track), alongside a nice bell melody, the track then changes with a sequenced melody part (think “Neon Lights”), following that an atmospheric section, which contains the perfect line to end the album, “After the Chernobyl incident in 1986, the residents of Pripyat were told that the evacuation of the city, was just for a few days, whilst radiation levels were brought under control…..they never returned.

I decided to add a small piece of music right at the end, which is just a perfect way to round off the album.

lyrics

After the Chernobyl incident in 1986
The residents of Pripyat were told
That the evacuation of the city
Was just for a few days
Whilst radiation levels were brought under control
They never returned
