AZ-5 is a song all about the “AZ-5 button”, this is the button that was pressed in the control room to abort the safety test, instead of stopping the test it triggered the disaster, again a key element of the Chernobyl story.

The song was written in March 2023, and was recorded after I had completed the song “Radiation”. I have probably made my best ever use, of text to speech, especially the way I have used the voice parts on this track.

There are quite a few different melodies on this track, the initial idea I came up with was the small bell melody, after that, ideas came thick and fast, I really like the melodies on this song, one of my personal favourite tracks on the album.
