Anatoly Dyatlov was the man the finger was pointed at, as the cause of the disaster, he was the supervisor on duty when the safety test was run, years later it also emerged that the design of the RBMK reactor had faults. So, in some ways you have to feel sorry for him, he was sent to prison for 10 years for his part in the tragedy, he served 5 years of his sentence. He died due to a radiation related illness just 9 years after the accident, aged 64.
